ABOUT:
FontCommenterv.2 was created as a drag and drop utility to batch-add Spotlight Comments to font (and only font) files. With this version FontCommenter adds the ability to append your Spotlight Comments, so you can keep a running record of the way you use your fonts.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Simply Drag your font or fonts onto the FontCommenter Icon and you will be presented with a screen to add Spotlight Comments to your files. A template has been provided for you, but if you want to create your own FontCommenter Spotlight Comment template, double-click on the FontCommenter Icon to create or edit your own custom template.
WHY IS THIS USEFUL?
For people who like control of their fonts, FontCommenter presents an easy way to batch-add information to their fonts that makes them searchable through Spotlight, OS 10.4's amazing file searching feature. Adding spotlight comments is an excellent way to begin the organization of your files. If, for example, you organize fonts by job number you can quickly find the fonts used with that particular job simply by entering the number you seek into Spotlight. If you break down your fonts by style, you can use FontCommenter to add that style information to the font file's Spotlight comments and be able to find the right font you need easily. The more information you add, the more powerful and precise your searches can be.

How do I append the Spotlight Comments with FontCommenterv.2?
When FontCommenter gives you the chance to add comments, just click the Append Comments button and your comments are added to the end of the Spotlight Comments field along with date and time when you added the comment.
What's up with the pre packaged comments on my opening screen. they are completely wrong for me and my workflow. What can I do?
FontCommenter allows you to create custom Spotlight Comment templates by double clicking on the FontCommenter icon. You will then get a chance to edit the Spotlight Comment template or create a new one of your own.
Why can't I add comments to locked fonts?
FontCommenter assumes these fonts are locked for a reason. If you want to add comments to the font you must first unlock the font using the get info command and unchecking the locked box or using another utility such as OKFont. Also locked comments can can cause problems in some work flows. By alerting you to a file's locked status, FontCommenter can help you troubleshoot any problems relating to that issue.
FontCommenter is almost exactly what I need, but I need some additional customization to make it work perfectly for my workflow. What can I do?
Custom versions of FontCommenter can be written for individual clients for a fee. (This feature is available on all SuperCustomized products.) Contact SuperCustomized for more details. Also, you can wait for future releases of FontCommenter which will add more features.
I copied my fonts to another system and my Spotlight Comments are gone. What's up with that?
Font comments are not stored as part of the actual file, they are kept by the OS filing system. The comments you add with FontCommenter are only available on your Mac, they cannot be emailed or copied over with the file to another computer.

Any Macintosh with System Version 10.4 or higher with Applescript.
